Till Assistant

About the role

As a Till Assistant, you will undertake all cash desk sales activities in the shop and provide the best possible customer service in order to maximize sales opportunities within Qatar Duty Free retail shops.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the float is correct and that all keyed information into the POS terminal is entered accurately.
• Process customer transactions efficiently using the QDFC shop's Point of Sale (POS) system and present receipts to customers.
• Handle money, travelers' cheques, credit cards, and other forms of payment in a safe, secure, and responsible manner.
• Ensure cash and documentation are secure at all times.
• Be responsible for cash variances at the end of the shift.
• Perform other department duties related to the position as directed by the Head of Department.
• Provide the highest levels of customer service to QDFC and Qatar Airways Group customers and passengers travelling through Hamad International Airport.
• Ensure customer complaints or problems are dealt with properly as they arise.
• Process transactions efficiently, minimizing the time spent processing and packing.
• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding company documentation, information, and statistics.
• Notify the Supervisor or Duty Manager of any breach of security.
• Maintain a high degree of security over stock and cash at all times.
• Remain aware of hotspot or theft-prone areas.

Qualifications and skills

• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
• English communication skills.
• Previous job-related experience is not required for entry-level roles.
• Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred.
• Command of the English language.
• Basic PC skills.
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Basic product knowledge.
• Pleasant and approachable manner.
