Purpose

Be a first-class business partner for the Site Production teams by generating and collating financial data and ensuring the integrity of financial data. Identify and assess performance and risks and take or recommend business decisions and actions for the relevant business unit (PP&I, Cellars and Packaging) to assist and enable fact-based decision-making and product and operating cost management. Be the guardian of HEINEKEN assets and reputation through improved financial controls, managed financial risks and clear and transparent information on business performance.

Key responsibilities

  • Be a co-pilot to Site Production teams in decision-making through solicited and unsolicited advice based on financial analysis and in-depth knowledge of business operations.
  • Support the business planning cycle of the Site, including the Strategic Plan, Annual Plan and Latest Estimates.
  • Prepare and critically analyse monthly results and deliver timely management reports containing commentaries, KPIs, graphs, internal and external insights, and/or benchmarks.
  • Manage and assess business unit performance against standards including OEE, overtime, costing standards and routing on SAP, and recommend performance improvements or standards adjustments.
  • Analyse and report on weekly and monthly production order variances, provide early warnings on deviations, advise on corrective or mitigating actions, review loss trends, and ensure production Bills of Materials are correct and up to date.
  • Ensure the reliability and integrity of accounting records, including accounts and cost centres, and financial information through regular controls and financial awareness across functions.
  • Ensure short-term interval controls are effective.
  • Continuously review site financial control processes, identify possible risks, and propose and implement solutions and controls to strengthen the control environment and foster continuous improvement.
  • Perform monthly audits to ensure adherence to internal control principles and assist in stock verification as required.
  • Support the business unit in adhering to financial control policies and procedures, including financial, IT and materials policies, and good corporate governance principles and practices.
  • Adhere to Excise policies and procedures and ensure documentation and administration are suitably maintained.
  • Prepare the monthly Excise Accounts for submission to SARS.
  • Ensure adherence to and provide necessary support for the capital expenditure process, including the validity and accuracy of the asset register.
  • Participate in stock management and assist with stock takes, identification of slow-moving and obsolete stock, and escalation of stock risks to management.
  • Participate in cross-site audits and stock takes.
  • Develop level 2 and 3 management financial competencies and capability in the business unit.

Education and experience

  • Completed BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification.
  • CIMA or BCom Accounting Honours is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in Management Accounting and/or Controlling, ideally in Supply Chain.
  • FMCG experience is advantageous.
  • Intellectual curiosity and the ability to search out facts without prior process or guidance.
  • Passion for delivering results, taking ownership and translating insights into concise, practical plans.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills to challenge, win support and drive decision-making.
  • Excellent team-player skills with strong oral and written communication.
  • High level of cross-functional cooperation and effective partnering with various teams.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Drive for improvements and change.
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office and SAP, with specific importance to manufacturing.
  • Ability to prepare simple or medium-complexity business cases and models.
