Tasks

Mercedes-Benz is hiring a Strategic Sourcing Analyst to support Mercedes-Benz Cars Procurement and Supplier Quality in Germany with purchasing activities in the NAFTA region, including localization, cost improvement projects, supplier development, and local market knowledge.

  • Act as the local contact for purchased parts and ensure communication and information flow to headquarters in Germany.
  • Represent the department in local cross-functional teams at MBUSI.
  • Develop a local supply base aligned with the global purchasing strategy.
  • Support cost analysis and price negotiations with local and global suppliers.
  • Prepare and lead negotiations for assigned purchasing scopes.
  • Manage potential analyses for new suppliers in the NAFTA region.
  • Organize supplier workshops and ensure implementation of cost ideas.
  • Support ramp-up activities and industrialization for future car lines and new suppliers.
  • Drive localization activities with local development and quality departments.
  • Handle local supplier claims and support supplier discussions.
  • Work with the law department to develop and adapt contracts.
  • Calculate and monitor local content rates.
  • Create and optimize purchasing-related processes.
  • Follow safety rules, procedures, regulations, standards, and laws; report unsafe acts, conditions, and injuries.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain or Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related area is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Entry-level candidates should have co-op or internship experience and/or up to two years of professional experience in purchasing, supply chain management, project management, or a related area.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet agreed deadlines.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and ability to innovate existing processes.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional international team.
  • Ability to plan and moderate internal and external meetings and workshops.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive component manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to analyze parts cost structures and prepare and lead negotiations.
  • Experience with Excel and Word.
  • German language skills preferred.
