Purpose
The overall objective of the Corporate Tax team is to create value for the global enterprise, business units, and shareholders by maximizing corporate profitability through minimizing the corporate tax burden and ensuring tax compliance requirements are met. This role involves tax compliance and planning, researching and analyzing tax regulations, and assisting in tax audits.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and compile data for monthly, quarterly, and annual indirect tax returns, including sales and use tax, gross receipts tax, Washington business and occupation tax, property tax, regulatory fees, and business license applications and renewals.
- Prepare miscellaneous tax returns and reports, including commercial rent, commercial activities, tourism assessment, use tax, and census reports.
- Compile and review data for informational tax reporting, including Forms 1099 and 1042.
- Prepare, maintain, and organize supporting tax workpapers, resolve tax notices, and manage compliance deadlines.
- Support state sales, use, and property tax audits by gathering information, defending calculations, negotiating resolutions, and recommending process improvements.
- Develop and implement process improvements across indirect tax reporting functions and use technology to improve workflow.
- Submit journal entries, perform monthly general ledger tax account reconciliations, resolve differences, and initiate tax payments.
- Process weekly and ad hoc check runs.
- Monitor tax legislation, conduct tax research, assist with tax planning, and identify optimization opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors and assist with miscellaneous Corporate Tax projects.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and SAP or equivalent experience.
- Ability to learn new systems, use financial data to influence outcomes, meet multiple deadlines, and work proactively in a changing environment.
- Fluent English, written and spoken.
- B.S. in Accounting and/or Taxation.
- 1–4 years of accounting experience in a large corporate setting; tax experience is a plus.
