Objective of job

The position is the top technical authority responsible for the end-to-end Electrical/Electronic Architecture of the vehicle. This role defines and drives the technical vision, architecture strategy, and engineering execution for next-generation vehicles, with a strong focus on Software-Defined Vehicle transformation and AI-enabled capabilities.

You will ensure that the E/E architecture spanning centralized computing, zonal controllers, in-vehicle networking, software platforms, and cloud integration is scalable, secure, high-performance, and future-ready.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate the mid-to-long-term technical strategy and roadmap for next-generation electrical and electronic architecture, including central computing, zone control, SOA servitization, high-performance computing, TSN automotive Ethernet, OTA iteration, platform reuse, and AI integration.
  • Track emerging EEA and automotive AI technologies, conduct feasibility analysis, lead technical selection decisions, mitigate risks, and ensure technological advancement.
  • Coordinate compliance planning against ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434, ASPICE, and AI-related compliance requirements.
  • Lead the top-level design of next-generation EEA, including architecture topology, functional domain and zone partitioning, CCU/ZCU definition, interface frameworks, and function allocation.
  • Resolve major architecture challenges involving computing power, network bandwidth, software-hardware decoupling, multi-vehicle adaptation, thermal management, reliability, and AI integration.
  • Oversee architecture performance optimization, simulation, and evaluation covering computing power, latency, bandwidth, load, thermal reliability, cost, and vehicle-level requirements.
  • Lead platform-based and modular EEA design, configuration management, adaptive architecture adjustment, and multi-scenario vehicle adaptation.
  • Develop EEA technical talent, lead technical sharing and problem-solving research, and build a high-level architecture team.
  • Establish EEA development processes, design specifications, documentation systems, and toolchains aligned with German OEM quality management requirements.
  • Collaborate with vehicle engineering, chassis, intelligent driving, body electronics, software, procurement, and quality teams to ensure implementable and mass-producible solutions.
  • Coordinate technical requirements and evaluations with suppliers of high-performance SoCs, domain controllers, automotive Ethernet chips, and wiring harnesses.
  • Liaise with Mercedes-Benz headquarters and participate in industry technical exchanges.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in computer science, electronic engineering, automotive engineering, automation, or a similar field.
  • 10+ years of automotive electronics system development experience, including at least 5 years focused on EEA architecture planning, design, or technical management.
  • Experience leading the full-process development of at least one central computing and zone control architecture generation through mass production launch.
  • Strong technical foresight, strategic planning, cross-functional coordination, and complex decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in next-generation EEA architecture, SOA, TSN automotive Ethernet, high-performance SoC selection, functional safety, cybersecurity, and thermal management.
  • Experience with PREEvision, CANoe, MATLAB/Simulink; ASPICE familiarity is preferred.
  • Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in an international and cross-cultural environment.
  • Fluent written and spoken English; English/German technical presentation ability is preferred.
