Senior Manager, Materials Design – NikeSKIMS

NIKE, Inc. is seeking a Senior Manager, Materials Design for NikeSKIMS to combine materials design expertise, creative problem solving, and people management to build the future of NikeSKIMS.

The role will elevate the Nike consumer product experience through the art and science of materials, lead a team of designers, and influence emotional connections to footwear and apparel through narrative and storytelling.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in design, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, or training.
• Minimum 8 years of progressively technically challenging design experience, preferably in product or materials.
• Direct people management experience.
• Understanding of color trends, strategy, achievability, material placement, and performance.
• Knowledge of the product design and development process.
• Strong visual and verbal presentation skills.
• Ability to lead a team and manage multiple projects and timelines.
• Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse group.
• Ability to network, influence, and use internal and external resources.
• Ability to articulate how color and materials can affect product and sales.

What you will work on

Manage a dynamic materials design team to create narrative-driven concepts and drive product excellence through the connection of design, development, marketing, and manufacturing. Research and consumer understanding will inform exploration across material design, fashion, art, and sports-related products.

Who you will work with

Manage a team of material designers while working with product line managers, technical and material developers, and product designers. The team leader will have two direct reports and report to the Design Director.
