Tasks

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will build and operate robust, scalable data pipelines on the Azure platform, transforming raw data into production-ready data products for procurement analytics and AI.

Design, build and operate data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, ADLS, Synapse, Azure Data Explorer and EventHub.
Identify and explore relevant procurement data sources, assess data quality and develop cleansing strategies.
Integrate new data sources into the Azure infrastructure while meeting security and governance standards.
Design scalable data models and backend features for data-driven applications and analytical products.
Ensure stable operation of production data solutions through monitoring, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
Work closely with procurement stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Contribute to the strategic development of the department’s data architecture.
Support knowledge transfer and participate actively in agile development processes such as Scrum and Kanban.

Qualifications

Completed degree in computer science, business informatics, mathematics, engineering or a comparable field.
At least five years of professional experience in data engineering or a comparable role focused on building and operating data pipelines.
Hands-on experience with Azure data services, ideally Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, ADLS, Synapse Analytics and/or Azure Data Explorer.
Very good programming skills in Python and SQL; knowledge of R or other languages is welcome.
Understanding of data quality assurance, data modelling and production data in complex enterprise environments.
Experience with CI/CD practices and DevOps processes in data operations.
Strong communication skills with business stakeholders and technical teams.
Fluent German and very good English.
