Job Purpose

As the Safety, Health, and Environmental Manager-Commerce, you will play a pivotal role in championing and promoting occupational safety, health, and environmental awareness across the Commerce function at Heineken Ethiopia. Your primary responsibility will be to monitor safety-related issues, including risk assessments and safety training, while sharing best practices and disseminating information within and across sales regions, Heineken-owned warehouses, distributor outlets, and road safety initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a culture of safety among Commerce employees through safety campaigns, induction sessions, safety accreditation for sales staff, and safety briefings.
  • Develop and conduct safety training programs for Commerce employees and third-party contractors, including induction, initial, ongoing, and refresher training.
  • Ensure Commerce employees comply with safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with the road safety program and policy.
  • Monitor drivers' weekly reports from the telematics dashboard to promote positive driving behavior.
  • Conduct incident investigations to identify root causes, contributing factors, and remedial measures.
  • Report safety events promptly and coordinate accident investigations.
  • Minimize lost time due to injuries by maintaining adherence to safety policies and safe working conditions.
  • Coordinate PPE management in sales regions and warehouses.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to ensure events are executed safely and according to standards.
  • Implement Heineken's Contractor Safety Management program in Commerce and marketing activities.
  • Ensure compliance with manual handling procedures.
  • Ensure safety adherence in Heineken and distributor warehouses.
  • Provide bi-weekly and monthly safety reports and share trend analyses with relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement journey management plans with the Fleet and Sales teams.
  • Implement the 5S program and maintain good housekeeping in internal warehouses.
  • Conduct detailed risk assessments and implement preventive and recovery barriers.
  • Perform other activities as assigned by the line manager.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in safety, health, and environmental management or as a SHE Coordinator in a manufacturing company.
  • Good command of MS Office.
  • Good knowledge of Ethiopian health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Good knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSAS 18001).
  • Strong knowledge of safety and environmental regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence change and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Special Conditions

  • Available for emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Available for frequent travel, averaging once per month, to different breweries, regions, and warehouse depots.
