Position Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Project Manager to lead complex avionics and embedded systems development programs for aerospace customers. The ideal candidate will have experience managing engineering projects involving avionics, embedded systems, DO-178, and/or DO-254 environments while serving as a key interface to customers and internal leadership teams.
This role requires someone who can operate independently, manage multiple stakeholders, drive program execution, and support frequent customer interactions. Local candidates are strongly preferred because of onsite collaboration and customer meetings. The role can be onsite in Connecticut or hybrid.
Responsibilities
- Lead avionics and embedded systems development programs from project initiation through delivery and certification in alignment with contracts and project plans.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, engineering teams, and executive stakeholders.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risks, and resource planning.
- Drive program execution using Earned Value Management principles, standard metrics, and agile or lean techniques.
- Understand and apply Quality Management Systems.
- Facilitate collaboration between Systems, Software, Hardware, Test, and Certification teams.
- Manage difficult situations while minimizing operational disruptions.
- Guide, mentor, and train junior and upcoming managers.
- Support business development activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 12+ years of industry experience, including 7+ years in formal leadership roles.
- Background in avionics and embedded systems development or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong understanding of Earned Value Management, Agile/Scrum, Agile Product Owner expectations, and Agile/Scrum Master expectations.
- Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead projects with minimal technical and managerial support.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional engineering teams.
- U.S. citizenship is required; dual citizenship should be disclosed.
- Ability to travel approximately six to eight weeks per year.
