Product Safety Engineer

Tasks

Manage an interdisciplinary inspection team for Warranty Liability and Product Liability vehicle inspections, with a focus on Product Liability cases. Align defense strategies with relevant legal and technical teams and take a leading role during on-site inspections and litigation activities.

Lead odor-related topics, coordinate communication and developments with regional and global teams, and prepare technical reports for management, legal teams, and litigation. Coordinate with regional offices, in-house legal teams, law firms, public relations, and business units on Warranty Liability and Product Liability matters.

• Coordinate vehicle inspections, consolidate information, and monitor progress.
• Manage assigned cases through information, coordination, and communication.
• Allocate and delegate tasks and responsibilities and provide performance feedback.
• Develop internal investigation standards, training programs, and seminars.
• Conduct vehicle inspections, document investigation results, travel for customer negotiations, and provide on-site training.
• Support settlement negotiations and technical, Product Liability, and Product Safety team members.

Qualifications

• University qualification and strong vehicle knowledge.
• At least 5 years of experience in the automotive industry, at Mercedes-Benz or another foreign OEM.
• Strong management and leadership skills, with experience leading cross-functional and multicultural teams.
• Good negotiation, interpersonal, communication, organizational, and project management skills.
• Strong technical Mercedes-Benz product knowledge; retail or wholesale operations experience is a plus.
• Experience in vehicle fire and accident investigation is advantageous.
• Fluent written and spoken English is mandatory.
• Willingness to travel frequently and work under pressure.
