Purpose
The Procurement Controller at Heineken Beverages oversees the financial aspects of the procurement function, combining financial expertise with procurement knowledge to support cost management, supplier relationships, financial analysis, profitability and overall financial performance.
Key responsibilities
- Review and approve budget guidelines, develop financial models, review price mandate proposals, conduct variance analysis and provide recommendations to optimize procurement strategies.
- Assess supply chain direct and indirect cost inputs on COGS and recommend targets.
- Monitor procurement costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, conduct price analysis and benchmarking, and optimize procurement spend.
- Evaluate supplier financial performance, negotiate contracts and terms, monitor compliance, and manage financial disputes and non-conformance claims.
- Prepare financial reports on procurement performance, ensure compliance with regulations and internal controls, and support accurate financial reporting.
- Review and approve procurement and logistics cost standards, evaluate variances, manage standards review board approvals, and validate procurement master data.
- Identify process improvements, support system enhancements, leverage analytics, and govern the material ledger process.
- Monitor, report and forecast procurement costs, identify risks and recommend remedial actions.
Education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field; a master’s degree or professional certification such as CIMA or BCom Accounting Honours is advantageous.
- At least 3 years of relevant Management Accounting and/or Controlling experience, ideally in Supply Chain.
- Experience in financial management or analysis within procurement, preferably in FMCG; FMCG experience is advantageous.
- Advanced proficiency in COUPA and sound knowledge of MS Office and SAP, particularly in manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of procurement, supplier management, financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, influencing, interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills.
