Job Overview

The Principal IT Application Architect provides end-to-end architecture leadership for Digital Customer Experience platforms, including OneWeb, eCommerce and 1CU applications across NAFTA. The role defines, governs and evolves application architecture strategy and roadmaps while ensuring scalable, secure and high-performing digital experiences aligned with business outcomes.

The architect works across product teams, vendors and platforms, partnering with infrastructure, DevOps and security teams. Responsibilities include technical leadership for large-scale IT projects, operational support, systems integration, architecture governance, vendor management, team coaching and oversight of quality assurance and production deployments.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end solution architecture across frontend, backend, integrations, data, cloud, security and observability.
  • Define and enforce architecture standards, design patterns and reference implementations across CMS, eCommerce, Salesforce and 1CU platforms.
  • Lead engineering teams through clear direction, feedback, coaching and operational oversight.
  • Manage architectural scope, sequencing, dependencies, timelines and delivery risks.
  • Provide governance for CI/CD, cloud environments, CMS platforms, CDN, monitoring and developer tooling.
  • Oversee Jenkins pipelines and AWS deployments, and support CDN administration, GitHub Enterprise, Google Maps and DataDog.
  • Establish architecture reviews, solution assessments and technical decision frameworks.
  • Define and track architecture KPIs such as performance, uptime, deployment frequency and defect rates.
  • Maintain architecture documentation, decision records and system designs.
  • Partner with product owners to prioritize technical backlogs, dependencies, technical debt and platform improvements.
  • Define and manage the multi-year roadmap for Digital Customer Experience platforms and integrations.
  • Ensure information-security controls and compliance requirements are met.

Development and Leadership

  • Operate as architecture lead across multiple product teams and vendors.
  • Design, program and troubleshoot new and existing technologies in accordance with MBUSA development methodologies.
  • Collaborate with product owners, managers and business partners on requirements, specifications, testing and delivery.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support and resolve issues in existing technologies, services and applications.
  • Review existing solutions and recommend improvements in performance, security and usability.

Qualifications

  • University degree or above in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or an equivalent field.
  • At least 10 years of professional IT experience focused on business applications and agile working methods.
  • Experience in enterprise architecture, data management, multinational or multicultural environments and software design, maintenance and development.
  • Experience leading development projects across onshore and offshore models and delivering time-critical projects.
  • Strong communication, analytical, strategic-thinking and independent-working skills.
  • Experience with Jenkins CI/CD, security automation and executive-level technical decision making.
