Job Overview
The Principal, Business Intelligence role is a critical member of the Sales Data & Advanced Analytics team within the Vice President of Sales organization. This position delivers strategic insights, advanced analytics, and enterprise reporting capabilities that provide leadership and key stakeholders with a comprehensive view of business performance across vehicle distribution, sales, market operations, and related commercial functions.
As a senior individual contributor and thought leader, the Principal will help define, develop, and continuously improve the organization's analytics and reporting framework. The role covers the full data and analytics lifecycle, including business requirements gathering, data sourcing and integration, data quality management, solution design, data modeling, dashboard and report development, and advanced analytical methodologies.
The Principal will work with technology, data engineering, and business stakeholders to translate complex business needs into scalable, automated, and repeatable analytics solutions. The role also serves as a trusted advisor to leadership on analytical best practices, emerging technologies, reporting standards, and data governance.
Responsibilities
Solution and Data Architecture Oversight
- Guide the team in understanding diverse data sources, formats, and operational systems to create a cohesive data strategy.
- Oversee scalable, future-proof data and system architectures aligned with business goals and technological advancements.
- Partner with IT teams to design sustainable data pipelines and architectural frameworks.
- Lead the definition of intuitive user flows and robust frontend and backend infrastructures.
Data Governance and Quality Management
- Ensure compliance with company and industry data policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee data quality management frameworks that ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of sales data.
- Champion data stewardship and ownership programs across the sales organization.
Solution Management
- Guide the use of advanced analytics to deliver actionable insights for strategic sales initiatives.
- Work with business units to identify solution and data requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
- Oversee operating models that optimize data management processes and improve data accessibility.
- Apply Mercedes-Benz sales and operational systems knowledge to improve processes, system performance, and data management.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a closely related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in solution and data architecture, data governance, or solution/product management roles.
- Extensive knowledge of data management, advanced data modeling, database design, and data integration.
- Advanced proficiency with Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent data visualization platforms.
- Understanding of AI applications in data analysis, reporting, and task automation.
- Experience designing and implementing data governance frameworks and data quality assurance programs.
- In-depth understanding of Medallion Architecture, including Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers.
Skills:
- Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Deep understanding of IT systems, cloud technologies, APIs, ETL processes, and architectural frameworks.
- Expertise in deploying solutions that improve sales performance and operational efficiency.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
