Lead Machine Learning Engineer, AI/ML ITC

Who We Are Looking For

NIKE, Inc. is seeking a Lead AI/ML Engineer to influence and develop robust machine learning and generative AI solutions with direct business impact. The role requires experience with Python, algorithms and data structures, AWS, database technologies such as Postgres and Redis, and data-processing technologies such as SageMaker or Databricks.

The successful candidate will demonstrate technical leadership, team mentoring, value delivery, strong communication, and comfort working in an agile product model. They will own projects end to end, from conception through operationalization, and help set technical direction and engineering quality standards.

What You Will Work On

You will join Nike’s Corporate Functions Artificial Intelligence team, working with globally distributed teammates to solve machine learning problems at scale.

• Design and implement scalable applications using prediction models and optimization programs to support data-driven business decisions.
• Contribute to advanced analytics, machine learning, and generative AI platforms and tools.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, engineering peers, and technology teams managing upstream and downstream solutions.
• Develop and share skills, mentor colleagues, and contribute knowledge and software to analytics and engineering communities.

What You Bring

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, a master’s degree in a related engineering field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 3+ years of experience in machine learning engineering or a related field.
• Technical leadership, engineering mentorship, and value delivery in an agile product model.
• Proficiency in Python, Docker, CI/CD, data structures, data modeling, and software architecture.
• Experience producing and deploying predictive or mathematical optimization models.
• Expertise in MLOps across experimentation, production, and measurement.
• Familiarity with Scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Spark, FastAPI, or similar frameworks.
• Experience with complex data sets, ETL pipelines, SQL, and data engineering.
• Cloud architecture experience, especially with AWS services including ECR, SageMaker, Lambda, and API Gateway.
• Familiarity with Airflow or Databricks Workflows.
• Experience with Postgres, Redis, SageMaker, or Databricks.
• Strong communication, technical strategy, implementation, leadership, and mentoring skills.
