Engine Periphery R&D Engineer

Tasks
Objectives: We are looking for an experienced R&D Engineer for Engine Periphery parts, such as Intake & Charging systems, Ventilation systems and Cooling Systems, to join our global powertrain R&D team. The role has global R&D ownership of mass-produced four-cylinder engines and involves new part development for China-leading projects, as well as ensuring delivery of joint-venture localization engine projects.
- Perform technical and cost benchmarking, concept evaluation and feasibility analysis for new projects.
- Conduct architecture design, component layout and 2D/3D engineering design according to engine and vehicle requirements.
- Formulate DV/PV test specifications, follow up part validation, engine testing and vehicle testing, analyze test failures and conduct root-cause analysis.
- Support joint-venture pre-production verification, process validation and on-site technical troubleshooting to guarantee SOP on time.
- Resolve in-production and field quality issues, deliver rapid interim countermeasures to prevent production shutdowns and customer complaints, and implement ongoing part design optimization.
- Collaborate with R&D headquarters, purchasing, quality, production and suppliers to manage component development schedules, cost, quality and validation progress.
- Accurately and systematically update and archive 2D/3D drawings, technical specifications, BOMs and other relevant engineering documentation.
Qualifications
- Master's or bachelor's degree in automotive or mechanical engineering, or an equivalent field.
- At least 5 years of R&D experience with engine periphery parts, such as Intake/Charging systems, Ventilation systems and Cooling Systems, at an OEM or Tier 1 supplier.
- Fluent written and spoken English; German is a plus.
- Familiarity with automotive material characteristics, including plastic, rubber and aluminum, and common manufacturing processes such as injection molding, blow molding and laser welding.
- Logical thinking, strong data analysis and root-cause investigation capabilities.
- Solid knowledge of 3D modeling and 2D drawing design software, such as Siemens NX.
- Outstanding cross-department communication, supplier management and technical presentation capabilities.
