Mercedes-Benz Group China Ltd.Shanghai, Xingchi Tower, No. 399, Keqiao Road, Jinqiao, Pudong, China (Hybrid)
Objective of job
This role serves as the core technical expert for next-generation vehicle EE architecture. You will independently own the end-to-end design, engineering implementation, and mass production delivery of a Central Computing and Zone Control EEA platform and support iterative upgrades for L4 Robotaxi unmanned architecture.
Main tasks
- Lead the overall design of next-generation vehicle EE architecture, including hardware and network topology, power distribution, wiring harnesses, and SOA architecture.
- Build a scalable and flexible vehicle EEA platform supporting mass-production passenger vehicles, flagship models, and L4 Robotaxi applications.
- Define EEA architecture specifications, topology diagrams, system requirements, interface boundaries, and platform design guidelines.
- Complete EEA topology construction, network planning, VLAN partitioning, backbone communication design, power partitioning, and vehicle wake-up and sleep system definition.
- Collaborate on SOA layered architecture, service boundaries, cross-domain interaction rules, and the full-vehicle service catalog.
- Analyze computing power, network bandwidth, and power consumption bottlenecks and verify optimization solutions.
- Participate in prototype debugging, vehicle integration, and troubleshooting of complex architecture, network, and system-level issues.
- Align requirements with autonomous driving, cockpit, vehicle data platform, AI, OTA, chassis, and powertrain teams.
- Define hardware deployment boundaries, ECU integration strategies, and reserved independent actuator lists.
- Integrate vehicle data, cybersecurity, and functional safety architectures into a complete EEA technical system.
- Build a configurable and iterative EEA platform covering different trims, powertrain models, and L4 unmanned vehicles.
- Establish standards for SOA protocols, network communication, time synchronization, power-up and sleep management, and layered OTA upgrades.
- Own technical governance from architecture freeze through development, integration, trial production, and SOP.
- Manage architecture changes, risk assessments, and cross-domain technical reviews, while documenting reusable platform assets and engineering methods.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Automation, or a similar field.
- At least 5 years of vehicle EEA architecture experience, including delivery of a complete CCU and ZCU platform from inception to mass-production SOP.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle EE architecture, CCU and ZCU systems, automotive Ethernet and TSN, DDS and SOME/IP, network topology, power distribution, wiring harness design, and SOA architecture.
- Ability to independently evaluate computing power, network bandwidth, system load, timing logic, and vehicle sleep and wake-up strategies.
- Experience with functional safety, cybersecurity, OTA mechanisms, vehicle data platforms, domain boundary definition, software-hardware decoupling, and platform reuse.
- Strong on-site troubleshooting, cross-functional communication, stakeholder management, and project-driving capabilities.
- Fluent English is required; German is a plus.
