In this role, you will work at the interface of engineering, purchasing, suppliers, and product strategy. You will evaluate electronic components such as control units, wiring harnesses, sensors, actuators, and related assemblies, using technical understanding and analytical skills to create transparency, challenge assumptions, and support business decisions.
How You Will Contribute
- Create bottom-up cost calculations for electrical and electronic components.
- Analyze requirement specifications, technical drawings, and CAD data to define target costs and identify cost drivers.
- Develop reference calculations supporting sourcing decisions, price negotiations, and technical evaluations.
- Shape target costs for sourcing scopes and contribute to cost-optimized product concepts.
- Collaborate with Purchasing, Development, Quality, and partner departments to challenge supplier quotations and identify optimization potential.
- Assess quotations, technical concepts, supplier assumptions, and cost impacts of technical changes.
- Contribute to technical discussions, supplier meetings, and cost workshops.
- Evaluate electronics manufacturing processes, including printed circuit board assembly, soldering, testing technology, and housing production.
- Analyze cost drivers such as semiconductors, printed circuit boards, connectors, housings, software, testing, and supply chain impacts.
- Prepare technical and commercial decision papers and coordinate work packages and deadlines.
- Assess supplier compensation requests when negotiated volumes or other key assumptions change.
Qualifications
- Degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, plastics engineering, production engineering, or a comparable qualification.
- Experience in cost engineering, manufacturing process analysis, or a comparable technical field.
- Confident handling of technical drawings, process parameters, machine layouts, and investment calculations.
- Strong analytical and commercial mindset, with the ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly.
- High initiative, strong communication skills, and team spirit.
- Fluent spoken and written English; German skills are beneficial.
