The Compliance Analyst supports the Head of Compliance/Local Compliance Officer in executing the Branch's compliance framework, with a primary focus on Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), and Know Your Client (KYC) obligations.

The role supports activities across AML/CTF/KYC, sanctions, privacy, the Corporations Act, prudential standards and international laws. Responsibilities include transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, compliance control plans, policy advice and regulatory project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assess AML/CFT typologies and red flags.
  • Provide AML/CFT compliance opinions on higher-risk files, transactions and business activities.
  • Review, investigate and process transaction-monitoring alerts generated by Fircosoft.
  • Conduct searches using Factiva Dow Jones and Worldcheck.
  • Conduct Enhanced Due Diligence on high-risk clients, politically exposed persons and complex ownership structures.
  • Identify, assess and escalate suspicious matters in accordance with AUSTRAC reporting obligations, including Suspicious Matter Reports and Threshold Transaction Reports.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating the Branch's AML/CTF Program.
  • Prepare draft compliance opinion forms and check KYC documentation for consistency.
  • Support regulatory projects, including reporting, timeline management and meeting governance.
  • Provide policy, procedure and compliance advice to business lines and support functions.
  • Collaborate with regional and Head Office teams across the APAC region.
  • Complete reports and submissions to Australian regulators where required.
  • Facilitate training to promote a business-oriented compliance culture.
  • Track and close internal audit and regulatory observations and recommendations.
  • Perform compliance monitoring, testing and controls.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in law, accounting, finance, business or a related field.
  • 0–2 years of experience, with 1–2 years preferred in compliance, financial crime or a regulatory role.
  • Understanding of Australian financial services laws.
  • AML, KYC and sanctions knowledge is appreciated.
  • Experience within a financial institution is appreciated.
  • English language proficiency.
