A Bid Manager acts as the project leader in bids, executing the process to develop an opportunity into a won contract. The role is responsible for delivering the full proposition to the customer within the time, budget, and resource constraints and guidance given through Rainbow reviews.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and structure the bid response process and manage the bid team, including the financial architect, solution manager and architect, contract manager, risk manager, and legal and compliance teams, from the beginning of the sales pursuit through handover to the Transition or Delivery team.
- Analyse customer needs and RFP requirements and develop specific bid proposals.
- Ensure the development of high-quality proposal documents and customer presentations.
- Participate in customer presentations and negotiations.
- Act as project leader for the administrative process of the sales pursuit.
- Manage the bid budget.
- Ensure proposals adhere to the process and meet required standards.
- Accompany the bid through key Rainbow review milestones by organising meetings, preparing documents, and aligning internal stakeholders.
- Conduct win workshops and win-loss review sessions.
Account management
- Collaborate with Sales and Business Development teams, including Account Directors, Account Managers, CEPs, and Business Developers, through the GTM and Account Management processes to help identify and prioritise deals.
- Act as an advisor during pursuit reviews, especially for bid qualification, risk measurement, and feasibility.
Customer service
- Work closely with client stakeholders throughout the bid process, including Q&A activities.
Qualifications and experience
- 10–12 years of experience in bid management in a similar work environment.
- Proven track record of converting sales opportunities into won contracts.
- Experience with different types of deals, from 5 up to 50 million.
- Experience working in structured, deadline-driven environments.
- Certifications related to bid management are an advantage.
