Purpose

Contributes to meeting or exceeding store sales and profit targets by championing individual uniqueness, inspiring consumer loyalty, ensuring KPIs are met or exceeded, serving and selling to customers, executing store operations, leading and coaching team members, and assuming leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Store Manager.

In addition to shared leadership responsibilities, the Assistant Store Manager will have an area of priority in one of four pillars:

  • Selling and Service: Drive a consumer-obsessed culture that makes every moment matter for customers.
  • People: Cultivate a people-first culture that attracts and retains talent through individual and team development.
  • Operations: Support store systems and processes that drive operational excellence.
  • Visual Excellence: Provide a premium presentation by implementing and maintaining Brand Retail Standards.

This is a critical leadership role responsible for leading and developing direct and indirect reports to positively impact team performance, operations, and store profitability.

Key Accountabilities

  • Allocate resources and organize processes within the assigned area of responsibility to drive efficiency and productivity.
  • Coordinate product replenishment from the stockroom to the sales floor.
  • Oversee sales transactions while adhering to cash protection procedures.
  • Minimize loss by implementing and monitoring loss prevention activities.
  • Maintain a safe shopping and working environment in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Apply knowledge of retail KPIs to make commercial decisions and achieve sales targets.
  • Track performance data and make adjustments to drive productivity and efficiency.
  • Coach, motivate, and inspire team members to build a performance culture.
  • Use advanced sales techniques and the adidas customer service model to enhance customer service, sales, and brand experience.
  • Guide and train team members on core and seasonal product knowledge.
  • Use category expertise and enthusiasm for the brand to drive sales and customer loyalty.
  • Supervise and coordinate the team to ensure customers receive the highest level of service.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of the store team.

Knowledge, Capabilities and Experience

  • Excellent skills operating personal computers, POS systems, and software packages including Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of profit and loss statements and store KPIs.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to lead discussions in diverse groups.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise discretion, and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Inspirational attitude and ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Well-developed ability to speak, read, comprehend, and write English.
  • Reliable and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically by car and air.

Physical Requirements

The role requires frequent standing, walking, use of hands, reaching, and communication. The employee may occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and operate a Brannock device. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds, and be able to maneuver around the sales floor and stock room.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Four-year college degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Minimum 18 months of retail environment experience.
  • Minimum 12 months of people management experience.
  • Advanced selling experience and comprehensive product, retail, and industry understanding.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and store personnel.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evening, overnight, and weekend shifts.
