What is the opportunity?

The Assistant Team Manager, FAM Malaysia, supports the team lead in overseeing day-to-day operations, focusing on team coordination, task management, and operational efficiency. This role contributes to fostering a motivated and collaborative work environment, assisting in employee development and supporting team performance. The Assistant Team Manager serves as a point of contact for operational matters within the team and collaborates with stakeholders to promote a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and process improvement.

What will you do?

Production and Supervision

• Assist the Team Manager in overseeing daily operations of the FAM team to ensure smooth and efficient workflows.
• Coordinate and monitor team tasks, including shift scheduling, leave management, and capacity planning, to maintain adequate coverage and meet deadlines.
• Support and guide team members through coaching, training, and knowledge sharing to enhance skills, performance, and development.
• Maintain and update standard operating procedures, process workflows, and accurate documentation for operational continuity.

Monitoring and Escalation

• Serve as the first point of escalation for operational issues within the team, assisting in timely identification and resolution of data flow anomalies.
• Collaborate with IT, Data Engineering, Risk, Business units, and other stakeholders to resolve technical and operational challenges.
• Assist in implementing and maintaining monitoring tools, alert systems, and exception handling workflows to support proactive issue detection.
• Support regular reporting on team performance, operational metrics, incident trends, and KPIs to leadership.

Risk Management

• Promote continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and recommending solutions to reduce operational risks.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, risk management frameworks, and governance standards.
• Assist in audit preparation and readiness by maintaining control documentation and supporting internal and external audit processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree, BSc Degree, or equivalent.
• Three to five years of experience, including one to two years in a senior analyst, team coordinator, or lead support role with supervisory exposure.
• Experience handling operational issues, trade validation, and exception management.
• Experience with accounting, portfolio reporting, database keeping, transaction monitoring, and validation in financial services or related industries.
• Experience investigating, resolving, and escalating trade anomalies and operational issues.
• Exposure to trade lifecycle processes, exception management, and instruction quality controls.
• Experience working with IT, Risk, Compliance, and Business units.
• Knowledge of data acquisition systems, upstream and downstream data dependencies, monitoring tools, incident handling, and escalation processes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, coordination, communication, business writing, and stakeholder management skills.
