Working Student (m/f/d) AI Agents & Robotics Platform
Mercedes-Benz Tech Innovation GmbHUlm, Germany (Hybrid)
Tasks
How will robots collaborate with humans in the future? We develop intelligent systems that understand language, perceive their environment, interpret situations, and act autonomously in the physical world. In our team, we combine Foundation Models, Agentic AI, Computer Vision, and Robotics to create intelligent Physical AI systems for production and logistics environments.
As a working student, you will contribute to real-world development projects and apply state-of-the-art AI technologies directly to robotic platforms. Together with experts from production, logistics, and vehicle development, you will explore, develop, and validate new capabilities for autonomous and assistive robotic systems.
Your Responsibilities
- Research and develop intelligent Physical AI applications on modern robotic platforms.
- Build multimodal agent systems capable of understanding language, perceiving their surroundings, and autonomously making decisions.
- Develop computer vision and perception components for interpreting complex real-world environments.
- Integrate Foundation Models, Vision-Language Models, and agent frameworks into robotic applications.
- Design, evaluate, and document experiments on real robots and simulation environments.
- Develop and validate new approaches for human-robot interaction.
- Evaluate emerging research approaches and technologies in AI, Computer Vision, and Robotics.
- Collaborate with experts from production, logistics, and vehicle development to create practical industrial solutions.
Qualifications
You are pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Robotics, or a related field and are currently in an advanced Bachelor's or Master's program. You are passionate about multimodal AI systems, AI agents, and Physical AI, work independently, structure complex tasks effectively, bring your own ideas, and enjoy exploring new topics and staying current with emerging technologies and research trends. You have good communication skills in German or English.
Ideally, you have initial experience with:
- Machine Learning, Reinforcement Learning, or Imitation Learning.
- Foundation Models, Large Language Models, or Vision-Language Models.
- AI agents, planning systems, or agentic architectures.
- Computer Vision and multimodal AI systems.
- Robotics, perception, or autonomous systems.
- Linux-based development environments and modern software engineering tools.
What We Offer
- The opportunity to help shape the next generation of intelligent robotic systems.
- Work on real-world challenges at the intersection of AI agents, Computer Vision, and Robotics.
- Access to modern robotic platforms, Foundation Models, Vision-Language Models, and agent frameworks.
- Direct exposure to use cases in production, logistics, and vehicle development at Mercedes-Benz.
- An innovative environment with creative freedom and ownership.
- Close collaboration with experts in Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Software Engineering.
