About the role
Provide accurate, timely and contextually appropriate verbal and written translation support for official correspondence, reports, forms, technical documents, aviation-related materials and business documents from Arabic to English and vice versa. The role supports MATAR management, departments and stakeholders while ensuring clarity, consistency, confidentiality, completeness and compliance with approved terminology, templates and communication standards.
Key responsibilities
- Translate official correspondence, reports, policies, legal-related documents, aviation materials and business documents between Arabic and English.
- Liaise with stakeholders to clarify source text, terminology, context and translation requirements.
- Research specialised technical, legal, aviation, government and business terminology.
- Maintain and apply bilingual terminology, glossaries, style guides and translation references.
- Review, proofread, edit, format and validate translated materials for accuracy, consistency and compliance.
- Provide verbal interpretation during meetings, workshops, conferences and official events when required.
- Coordinate document control, version control, classification, filing and retrieval of translated materials.
- Monitor translation requests, priorities, workloads and turnaround times, maintaining translation logs and reporting updates.
- Use translation memory tools, CAT software, SharePoint, document management systems and approved technology solutions.
- Support translation automation and digital improvement initiatives.
- Review work prepared by junior staff or external providers and provide guidance on translation practices.
- Maintain confidentiality, integrity and security of sensitive and classified information.
- Support urgent, high-volume and business-critical translation requirements.
- Perform other related departmental duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in Translation, Linguistics, English and Arabic Literature, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of job-related experience; 4–5 years of experience in translation, interpretation or bilingual communication is stated as preferred experience.
- Experience translating commercial, business, legal and technical documentation between Arabic and English.
- Excellent written and verbal command of formal Arabic and English business language.
- Experience in aviation, legal, regulatory, infrastructure, engineering, construction, government or other regulated environments is preferred.
- Professional translation qualifications are preferred.
