Supplier Product Engineer – HV Battery & Parts

Objective of job

Take charge of remanufacturing and repair session clarification and evaluation for global-buy high-voltage battery development. Lead repairability and remanufacturability analysis of high-voltage batteries in China during product development with R&D, and lead global-buy high-voltage battery remanufactured product engineering when the supplier is a Chinese company.

Set up the central repair process as PEP-Repair project lead for supplier high-voltage batteries and support the supplier high-voltage battery PEP-Reman process. Monitor and guide supplier daily operations to ensure high KPI performance. Coordinate technical topics and release processes among R&D, Quality and suppliers, and commercial topics among Finance, Logistics, IT and Product Management.

Main tasks

• Develop remanufacturing and central repair requirements for global-buy high-voltage batteries, clarify technical requirements with suppliers, review product concepts, assess supplier repairability and remanufacturability development, and align cost indicators.
• Lead remanufactured product engineering for central repair and remanufacturing; support design-to-repair workshops and product/process adaptations; analyze repairability; evaluate components for reuse; develop disassembly, cleaning and reassembly concepts; define specifications and validation tests; interpret results and prepare product release.
• Establish and track PEP-Repair project milestones, coordinate internal departments and external suppliers, develop central repair business processes, identify risks and mitigation plans, and manage projects through delivery approval.
• Develop supplier products with headquarters engineers and suppliers in China, using PEP-R and PEP-S milestone schedules.
• Monitor supplier operations and quality requirements, conduct quality audits with Quality Management, support continuous improvement activities, and report supplier KPI performance.
• Maintain communication with internal departments and global partners, monitor supplier topics, and provide reporting.
• Ensure target agreements, audit requirements and ethical standards are fulfilled.

Qualifications

• Master of Science in Automotive, Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• At least 5 years of automotive industry experience, especially in high-voltage battery production and development.
• Experience in engineering program management and remanufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of PDCA, 8D, 7 Diamonds, battery assembly and testing, business case calculation and VDA 6.3.
• Experience with product development and stage-gate processes; international cross-functional project leadership preferred.
• Excellent spoken and written English and German, strong supplier communication skills, and the ability to influence and connect with team members.
