Student for Thesis - Investment Management Insurance

The Mercedes-Benz Group AG is one of the most successful automotive companies in the world. Together with Mercedes-Benz AG, the vehicle manufacturer is one of the largest providers of premium and luxury cars and vans.

Finance & Controlling Insurance is responsible for the financial management of the insurance activities within Mercedes-Benz Insurance Services. As part of your thesis, you will have the opportunity to work on a practice-oriented topic focusing on the optimization of investments and capital efficiency at Mercedes-Benz Reinsurance S.A. under Solvency II requirements.

Tasks

• Analyzing opportunities to optimize investment income and capital allocation while considering Solvency II requirements.
• Developing a concept to optimize the investment portfolio, with a particular focus on the existing Alternative Investment Fund (AIF).
• Analyzing and optimizing the interaction between return, risk, capital requirements and minimum return requirements.
• Deriving actionable recommendations for a risk- and capital-efficient investment strategy.

The final thesis topic will be defined jointly with your university and Mercedes-Benz.

The position can start from December 2026.

Qualifications

• Studies in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Business Studies or a comparable field, ideally with a focus on Finance, Investments or Financial Services.
• Initial practical experience in Financial Services, Asset-Liability Management, Asset Management or Investment Management.
• Very good German and English language skills, both written and spoken.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Strong interest in capital markets, investments and regulatory topics.
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills as well as confidence in working with financial data.
• A high degree of initiative, independence and a structured way of working.
