Who You Will Work With
You will report to the Engineering Manager at Geographies & Marketplace Experiences - India Technology Center and work with a team of dedicated engineers to improve Nike's technical direction and solutions.
Who We Are Looking For
Nike's Global Technology Geographies and Marketplace Experiences Organization is building next-generation applications for retail stores. The team is modernizing and scaling in-store applications and cloud services, including a high-throughput, low-latency, fault-tolerant Retail Stores Cloud Checkout.
- 3+ years of software development experience.
- Experience with collaborative, multidisciplinary teams and distributed or cloud-based environments such as AWS, GCE, or Azure.
- Mandatory experience with microservice architecture, domain-driven design, RESTful services, Java, and Spring Boot.
- AI-first mindset and experience using AI-powered developer tools such as Cursor.
- Experience with test-driven development using tools such as JUnit, Mockito, Cucumber, or Playwright.
- Experience with monitoring and tracing tools including Splunk, SignalFx, Kibana, or Grafana.
- Experience with NoSQL and relational data stores such as DynamoDB, MySQL, or Oracle.
- Experience with continuous integration, unit testing, static analysis, automated integration tests, and preferably continuous delivery.
- Working knowledge of Scrum and agile principles.
- Experience with end-to-end ownership, code reviews, observability, maintenance, and support.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related subject, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with CI/CD, Jenkins, GitHub workflows, branching, pull-request reviews, code quality, and release readiness.
Nice-to-have experience includes designing highly scalable web applications and exposure to retail stores application areas such as point of sale.
What You Will Work On
As a Software Engineer II, you will join the Stores Retail Cloud Checkout Engineering team, building tools and services that support checkout in Nike retail stores and backend teams.
- Develop and deliver backend cloud-native microservices.
- Collaborate with product team members to design, develop, and deploy scalable digital asset management systems and services.
- Write clean, tested, and documented code; conduct peer reviews and mentor engineers.
- Support agile practices, sprint planning, scrum ceremonies, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
- Leverage GenAI capabilities, including RAG, prompt-driven workflows, MCP, and specification-driven architectures.
- Ensure performance, scalability, extensibility, reliability, usability, and availability throughout the development lifecycle.
- Design, implement, deploy, monitor, and operate services at scale in a full DevOps model.
- Resolve technical issues, remove blockers, review code, and provide feedback.
- Own build, test, release, and production support for team-owned capabilities.
- Implement observability and operational readiness using Splunk and SignalFx, including monitoring and alerting.
