Series Planning Engineer

Tasks
Under general supervision, the Series Planning Engineer is responsible for trial process planning and ramp-up coordination of production-related changes resulting from product design, model years, running changes, MOPF, volume, and continuous improvement measures.
- Review new product design implications through the Change Management System to evaluate process impact and provide feedback on process time analysis and investment requirements.
- Support development of production-compatible components and manufacturing processes with Research & Development, central planning, and manufacturing process areas.
- Participate in product reviews for model changes at the Mercedes-Benz Technology Center in Germany; overseas travel is required.
- Plan and prepare assembly processes while coordinating logistics functions and supply processes.
- Perform statistical quality control and implement VA/AA and Q-Release quality requirements.
- Develop work procedures and instructions for production processes.
- Develop and implement plans to increase productivity and decrease production costs.
- Review line targets and prepare plans and workshops to improve plant KPIs.
- Identify production waste and implement improvements using Manufacturing Production Systems and Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Prepare and manage materials, equipment, and information resources for process planning.
- Support resolution of manufacturability topics involving product and process design, capacity planning, documentation, human factors, ergonomics, and safety.
- Follow safety rules, procedures, regulations, standards, and laws; report unsafe acts, conditions, and injuries.
- Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related area is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in engineering in a manufacturing environment, with emphasis on project management and/or process planning, is required.
- Ability to communicate technical information verbally and in writing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint

Preferred qualifications include experience with Mercedes-Benz product or pre-production environments, Lean Manufacturing, automotive manufacturing systems, Six Sigma, work standardization, MTM analysis, AM Supply, Engineering Client 3D drawings, Proplan/Difa planning systems, Dialog, and German language skills.
