Senior Software Engineer (Backend/Frontend/Fullstack)

Join adidas and help build the next generation of digital platforms powering the business, products and consumer experiences. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be part of an international engineering team designing, building and operating scalable cloud-native solutions used by millions of consumers, creators and business users worldwide.

Depending on the team match and business needs, you may join an engineering team within Digital Tech or Brand & Creation Technologies, contributing to backend services, internal and consumer-facing frontend applications, APIs, event-driven architectures and cloud-native platforms.

Key Accountabilities

• Join an international team of talented and passionate engineers developing cloud-native platforms.
• Contribute to defining the technical roadmap of the services in scope.
• Design and develop applications based on microservices architecture.
• Create feature-rich APIs and interact with other APIs or event platforms such as Kafka.
• Implement Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery processes using adidas standard platforms.
• Deploy and operate cloud-native solutions on adidas Kubernetes clusters.
• Align and evolve team processes and adidas engineering standards.
• Implement code quality assurance processes, code reviews and engineering best practices.
• Identify and manage technical debt.
• Mentor and guide software engineers within the team.
• Engage with business teams, product owners, QA engineers, architects, site reliability engineers and external partners.

What We Are Looking For

• College or university degree focused on IT, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 7 years of IT experience with exposure to the product development lifecycle.
• Previous experience leading engineers or technical initiatives is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
• Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, tools and processes.
• Strong software quality assurance mindset and engineering excellence practices.

Required Technical Skills

adidas is hiring across backend, frontend and full-stack profiles, with depth expected in at least one area and working familiarity with shared engineering foundations.

• Backend: Strong experience building backend services in Java/Spring Boot and/or TypeScript/Node.js, with strong API design, data modelling and service integration skills.
• Frontend: Strong experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, modern ECMAScript, React JS and state management such as Redux, MobX or the Context API. Additional Angular or Vue.js experience is valuable, as is knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and SASS/LESS.
• Experience with AI-assisted software development tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor or similar.
• Experience designing, developing and deploying microservices-based architectures and REST APIs using synchronous and asynchronous communication.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Experience with container technologies and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, resilience and performance.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and asynchronous messaging patterns.
• Experience with CI/CD practices and modern software delivery pipelines.
• Experience operating and troubleshooting applications in production environments.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including testing, code quality, maintainability and observability.
