Objective of Job
- Ensure sufficient capacity and supplier readiness of Asian suppliers to secure timely delivery of the right parts to BBAC and Mercedes-Benz plants worldwide, including related project management.
- Conduct supplier evaluations, logistics audits, capacity verification audits and supplier performance tests according to VDA standards.
- Build relationships with global and hub supplier managers to address complex capacity-management situations and lead task forces during supplier capacity crises.
- Work cross-functionally with Quality Engineers, MRP controllers, R&D and Buyers to ensure suppliers meet project milestones covering EDI setup, production and capacity planning, warehousing, production processes and transportation.
- Use Mercedes-Benz standard methods, systems and reporting tools to manage supplier-readiness information and report status to management and headquarters.
- Trigger escalations and lead cross-functional, multinational task forces to resolve bottlenecks without affecting vehicle production plans.
Task Description
- Manage, motivate and develop staff through target agreements, performance appraisals, training and purposeful internal communication.
- Hire, train and develop the team while ensuring compliance with relevant provisions.
- Contribute to organizational strategy, develop implementation strategies and manage the role against targets and key performance indicators.
- Plan and manage budgets and headcount, monitor costs and introduce cost-cutting measures where necessary.
- Introduce corrective logistics measures to stabilize supplier processes, including task-force management.
- Support suppliers with preventive CAPA tools to ensure continuous supply.
- Handle internal and supplier complaints, define sustainable corrective measures, monitor implementation and conduct logistics audits.
- Represent Supplier Readiness and Capacity Management in relevant forums and coordinate reporting with Quality and Purchasing.
Qualifications
- Studies in Business with a focus on Logistics or Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or a technical education background.
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in logistics planning, supplier-readiness logistics, supplier-capacity management or production-program planning, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Experience using logistics-relevant systems.
- Willingness to travel frequently.
