Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization
Oversee Corporate Finance responsibilities for the North American market. Responsible for the overall management and delivery of treasury, accounting, procurement, and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee compliance with established internal control frameworks, best practices, and policies.
- Ensure the protection of company assets; effectiveness and efficiency of operations; reliability of reporting; and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Lead initiatives focused on improving the efficiency, transparency, and effectiveness of business processes.
- Oversee all North American U.S. and Canadian subsidiaries’ liquidity, solvency, and financial market risks in coordination with Group Treasury.
- Create strategy and lead initiatives to improve cash management processes, policies, solutions, and strategies in North America.
- Manage daily cash management, intra-group funding, corporate finance, cash collections, and disbursements.
- Ensure accounting activities are completed for the legal entity and direct the accounting department.
- Safeguard the integrity of accounting records and assets.
- Direct retail inventory management for adidas-owned retail, ensuring accounting and financial inventory records are timely and accurate.
- Develop, implement, and administer policies and procedures controlling inventory transactions.
- Own cross-functional finance policies and serve as a key point person for corporate functions.
- Create an environment that enables the North American team to achieve execution excellence, coaching and mentoring stakeholders to meet departmental and corporate goals.
Key Relationships
Senior Vice President Finance and NAM Senior Leadership Team, market finance teams, market managing director and general managers, commercial teams, corporate finance functions, Group Finance counterparts, Human Resources, Corporate Internal Audit, external consultants, and external auditors.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of accounting and controlling related to treasury activities.
- Ability to define and implement strategy.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Deep business and functional understanding of processes and structure.
- Understanding of accounting and legal frameworks for North American cash management and corporate finance.
- Experience in stakeholder and supplier relationship management, employment and labor contracts, claims, liability, warranty, and procurement legislation.
- Knowledge of sourcing and procurement methodologies.
- Ability to manage varied tasks and meet milestones and target dates.
- Ability to collaborate with senior Finance leadership.
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from senior executives and cross-functional leaders.
- Ability to define problems, analyze data, establish facts, and implement effective action plans.
- Ability to coach, manage, align, motivate, and develop direct reports.
- Strategic thinking and ability to synthesize complex data and develop innovative solutions.
- Excellent analytical, written, oral, organizational, and presentation skills.
Work Policy
adidas offers a hybrid work policy requiring attendance in the office Monday through Thursday, with flexibility to work remotely on Friday. In-office attendance is required on Friday when the work involves significant collaboration or an in-person presentation.
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications
- Degree or qualification in Finance, Economics, or Accounting.
- 12–15 years of broad-based operational finance experience with progressive responsibility in industry-leading companies.
- Solid accounting skills and experience; CPA strongly preferred.
- Fluent English, both verbal and written.
- Advanced Excel skills required.
- Familiarity with SAP, COPA, and other relevant Finance systems or analytical software is a major plus.
