Section Lead, Autonomous Driving Toolchain & Platform

Tasks

Objective of job

• Lead the Autonomous Driving Toolchain & Platform section and oversee IT solution delivery for automated driving system development and testing.
• Design and deliver cloud-based, microservice-oriented, partner-agnostic, data-driven development and testing solutions with R&D partners.
• Cooperate with local and global IT and R&D stakeholders, acting as a bridge between Germany-based centers of competence and local R&D business partners.
• Drive team transformation, build internal development competence, and expand knowledge in ADAS, interior sensing, and vital sensing.
• Provide feedback, guidance, and coaching to team members and support performance management, training, and team building.

Job designation

• Deliver and enhance autonomous driving development and testing platforms with Mercedes-Benz R&D China.
• Manage section communication, strategy execution, OKRs, individual development plans, performance, resources, and budget.
• Support China’s contribution to headquarters strategy and coordinate shared R&D IT solutions between Germany and China.
• Coordinate with other IT departments to drive innovation, integrate IT solutions, and share IT and business-process knowledge.
• Ensure IT R&D security, governance, compliance, and audit support in accordance with China CCSL and company requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Intelligent Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Engineering, or a related field.
• More than five years of autonomous-driving backend platform experience focused on data-driven AD/ADAS development for series passenger-car projects.
• More than five years of coding experience in AD/ADAS, with proficiency in languages including C, C++, Java, JavaScript, and Python.
• Experience with large models, automotive-grade chips such as Orin/Xavier and TI TDA4, autonomous-driving data closed-loop systems, cloud computing, CI/CD, DevOps, machine learning, AI, and generative AI.
• Knowledge of AD/ADAS security and data compliance, software engineering, project and supplier management, Agile, SAFe, and ASPICE.
• Strong motivation, ownership, results orientation, strategic thinking, communication, coordination, and conflict-management skills.
• Fluent English and Chinese required; German is an advantage.
