Tasks
Develop restraint components for Mercedes-Benz China locally produced vehicles and ensure all project milestones are reached. Represent restraint component development in the overall vehicle project, collaborate with cross-functional teams, release components according to project milestones, lead issue solving and countermeasure alignment, and manage suppliers.
Lead the design and construction of China-specific restraint system components in collaboration with R&D headquarters in Germany from the “P” phase through SOP. Work with departments including R&D Interior, Overall Vehicle, MP and BBAC to ensure milestones are achieved and issues are resolved on time.
- Manage suppliers in accordance with the MBC part development process, including qualification, supervision and monitoring of external engineering offices.
- Lead localization of restraint system components and ensure technical requirements are fulfilled.
- Perform troubleshooting, failure analysis, risk assessment and countermeasure evaluation.
- Assist pilot runs, tryouts and series production at the plant with technical support and professional expertise.
- Participate in technical and project meetings and present results.
Qualifications
- University degree in mechanical or automotive engineering.
- More than five years of experience in restraint system component development and industrialization.
- Experience handling complex situations, solving issues, managing suppliers, and resolving conflicts among stakeholders.
- Good knowledge of restraint system development and industrialization processes.
- Teamwork spirit, intercultural competence, strong communication, initiative and strategic thinking.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
- Fluent English and Chinese; German is an advantage.
- Black Belt certification is favorable.
