Purpose
Drive the store’s profitability by meeting or exceeding store sales and profit targets, managing all store resources to provide customers with a leading shopping experience, and ensuring proper execution of established policies, procedures, initiatives, and directives.
Key Accountabilities
Lead, coach and develop
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and development efforts in partnership with HR, Talent Acquisition, and Retail Training.
- Coach, motivate, and inspire Assistant General Managers to accomplish store goals and maximize performance.
- Create a high-performance culture through clear expectations, performance analysis, and prompt feedback.
- Identify and develop strong performers with potential for growth.
- Complete General Manager training programs and apply the learning on the job.
- Ensure compliance with established HR policies and procedures.
Lead a service culture
- Drive a service and selling culture through leadership of the adidas Group service model.
- Lead by example on the sales floor and ensure a leader is always on duty.
- Schedule and zone employees to prioritize consumer service and sales.
- Analyze Net Promoter Score results and communicate opportunities for improvement.
- Optimize the consumer experience through ship-from-store, click and collect, and Store Associate Mobile initiatives.
Lead store operations
- Lead store operations systematically and efficiently according to adidas Retail Operating Rhythms.
- Ensure compliance with adidas Retail Management Standards and all applicable policies and directives.
- Process merchandise deliveries on the day they arrive and maintain product availability and accessibility.
- Lead cash wrap accuracy, change management, loss prevention, health, and safety initiatives.
- Assess and recommend improvements to the store’s commercial viability and product availability.
Lead brand and product expertise
- Act as a Brand Ambassador and consistently demonstrate adidas Brand Attitude and Values.
- Promote passion for sport, culture, and community.
- Maintain Retail Experience, Visual Excellence, and In-Store Communication standards.
- Partner with the District Manager and Retail Training to deliver product training and learning programs.
Lead store profitability
- Take ownership of the store’s commercial success.
- Use relevant data and store KPIs to drive continuous improvement in sales, productivity, and profitability.
- Maintain the legal and financial integrity of the store.
- Maintain a safe and productive shopping and working environment.
Knowledge, Capabilities and Experience
- Proficiency with personal computers, POS systems, Microsoft Office, and related software.
- Knowledge of profit and loss statements and store KPIs.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, time management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships and maintain high performance standards.
- Ability to speak, read, comprehend, and write English.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically by car and air.
Physical Requirements
The role requires extended periods of standing and walking, frequent use of hands, occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and operating a Brannock device. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Peak seasonal periods may require working 10–12 hours per day. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
Qualifications
- Four-year college or university degree in business, retail management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 18 months of retail experience, including a minimum of 12 months of store management experience.
