Job description
Duties and responsibilities
Reserving
- Participate in ensuring reserving programs are set up in a timely manner for the monthly closing of accounts.
- Participate in developing and testing new methodologies for calculating technical reserves.
- Improve existing programs.
- Debug issues with existing programs and VBA macros.
- Maintain the Data Centralizer for partners live in Titan.
- Develop new Data Centralizer functionalities for partners live in Titan.
- Contribute to other key projects.
Reserving program migration
- Develop applications for creating new reserving programs.
- Communicate and review program specifications with Data Management.
- Perform user acceptance testing before programs enter production.
- Document progress and checks carried out.
Database management and reporting
- Assist in defining data and reporting requirements for new partners, products and reinsurance treaties.
- Complete monthly controls for audit and governance.
- Participate in the regular report-running schedule and process.
- Identify and report data-entry errors, monitor resolution progress and contribute to new controls.
External relations
- Develop good relationships with the Data Management Team, IT, Project, Administration and Operations, Finance and Business Development departments, corporate clients and third-party administrators.
- Liaise closely with the Reserving Production team.
- Provide backup for a colleague during absences.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree, BSc or equivalent.
- Actuarial qualification, part-qualified or qualified.
- Three to five years' minimum experience, including two or more years in actuarial roles.
- Prior programming experience is necessary.
- Experience with SAS, SQL or Python is preferable.
- Experience with Microsoft packages, particularly Excel, is necessary.
- Knowledge of reserving techniques such as Bornhuetter-Ferguson, Chain Ladder and Mack Method is an advantage.
- Good communication skills, teamwork, organisation and punctuality.
- Fluent English is necessary; French or another European language is an advantage.
Hybrid working. The position has no management responsibility.
