Objective of Job

The position is part of the Program Management Compact & Midsize Cars team, which leads strategic decision-making and alignment within China and Germany for Compact & Midsize product decisions and steers cross-carline cost measures. The program manager steers cost measures, coordinates cross-functional teams to achieve cost targets through earlier design, development and sourcing involvement, and manages reporting and cost-tracking tool optimization.

Main tasks

  • Work out and steer cross-carline cost measures with core teams from R&D, Sales, Finance, Purchasing, Quality and Design.
  • Coordinate high-level management committees with Mercedes-Benz, BMBS and BBAC joint-venture partners.
  • Track decisions and report on implementation progress.
  • Prepare management presentations for decision-making.
  • Continuously optimize the cost-tracking tool using digitalization ideas.
  • Ensure pre-alignment of China product topics with Research & Development, Operations, Sales and Marketing.
  • Participate in and represent Program Management in other committees.

Qualifications

  • University bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical or automotive engineering, technical-oriented Business Administration or a similar field; an MBA is preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in the automotive industry and project management experience.
  • High motivation, flexibility and ability to work independently.
  • Strong organizational skills and a structured working approach.
  • Drive for high-quality delivery under difficult circumstances.
  • Proficient MS Office skills, especially PowerPoint and Excel; knowledge of AI tools is a plus.
  • Experience creating high-level management summaries and presentations.
  • Teamwork, intercultural competence and communication skills across hierarchy levels.
  • Fluent spoken and written English; German is preferred.
