Purpose and overall relevance for the organization
Manage all transactions with customers accurately and efficiently on the POS system. Receive payments and issue receipts, gift-wrap packages, and keep track of all cash and credit transactions. Ensure all sale and refund transactions run smoothly to maximize customer satisfaction. Keep records of speed points and related weekly checklists, and ensure all House of Retail policies, rules, and procedures are followed at POS.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Manage schedules for till operators to align with peak hours and avoid creating long queues.
- Inform management about cash overs, under-banks, and investigations.
- Manage customer transactions using cash registers; scan goods and ensure pricing is accurate.
- Collect cash or credit payments and issue receipts, refunds, change, or tickets.
- Redeem coupons and vouchers.
- Cross-sell products, introduce new products, and sell add-ons such as socks and caps to increase UPT.
- Resolve customer complaints, provide guidance, and share relevant information.
- Greet customers entering or leaving the store.
- Maintain clean and tidy checkout areas.
- Track transactions on balance sheets and report discrepancies.
- Bag packages and handle merchandise returns and exchanges.
- Drive CRM and NPS as the final point of customer contact in store.
- Replenish the sales floor and maintain housekeeping standards.
- Ensure compliance with POS administration audit checks.
- Ensure cashier training and monthly or quarterly refresher training are completed.
- Deliver excellent customer service and educate consumers about adiClub to encourage interaction and membership sales.
- Ensure POS operators have the stationery required for their duties.
- Complete all POS-related administration daily.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Basic PC knowledge.
- Familiarity with electronic equipment such as cash registers and POS systems.
- Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and time-management skills.

- Investigation and problem-solving skills.
Education and experience
- Minimum five years’ work experience as a retail cashier or in a similar sales role.
- Matric certificate.
