Purpose & overall relevance for the organization
Manage all transactions with customers accurately and efficiently on the POS system. Receive payments and issue receipts, gift-wrap packages, and track all cash and credit transactions. Ensure all sale and refund transactions run smoothly to maximize customer satisfaction and comply with House of Retail POS policies, rules, and procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Manage customer transactions using cash registers.
- Scan goods and ensure pricing is accurate.
- Collect cash or credit payments and promote PJN as a payment option.
- Issue receipts, refunds, change, or tickets.
- Redeem coupons and vouchers.
- Cross-sell products, introduce new products, and sell add-ons to increase UPT.
- Resolve customer complaints and provide relevant information.
- Greet customers when entering or leaving the store.
- Maintain clean and tidy checkout areas.
- Track transactions on balance sheets and report discrepancies.
- Bag packages and handle merchandise returns and exchanges.
- Ensure all till documents are signed and filed correctly.
- Drive CRM and NPS as the final point of customer contact in store.
- Use the digital dashboard to understand performance and track sales responsibilities.
- Support sales-floor replenishment and housekeeping.
Key relationships
Customers, peers, POS supervisor, Store Manager, and Deputy Manager.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Basic PC knowledge.
- Familiarity with electronic equipment, including cash registers and POS systems.
- Strong numeracy skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong communication and time-management skills.
- Customer-satisfaction orientation.
Education and experience
- 2–4 years of work experience as a retail cashier or in a similar sales role.
- Matric certificate.
