Responsibilities
- Prepare the workplace for manual activities and retrieve required materials, documents, tools, and supplies.
- Maintain stock levels, organization, and proper 5S practices.
- Seal interior and exterior seams.
- Spray or lay out PVC protection and Sika while meeting required surface quality standards.
- Polish and buff parts and bodies, clean polishing residue, inspect completed work, and make repairs as needed.
- Perform visual inspections and document results when necessary.
- Perform sanding operations.
- Resolve minor paint-tool and equipment issues, including filter cleaning and nozzle changes.
- Disassemble, clean, reassemble, and check tools and equipment such as nozzles, lances, pistols, bells, and injectors.
- Assist less experienced employees with training.
- Inspect all parts and van bodies, recording defects in the quality reporting system.
- Follow instructions, work schemes, safety requirements, and participate in continuous improvement activities and team meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least 2 years of relevant manufacturing experience, or a relevant certificate and at least 1 year of relevant experience.
- Preferred: at least 3 years of relevant experience, or a relevant certificate and at least 2 years of relevant experience.
- Basic craftsmanship and technical understanding.
- Familiarity with basic hand and power tools.
- Experience using buffers and sanders on automotive paint preferred.
- Experience in an automotive paint environment preferred.
- Ability to perform the essential job functions and willingness to work overtime and weekends as required.
