Tasks
The OVD (Overall Vehicle Design) team defines vehicle architecture and manages the geometrical integration of related systems, modules, and components into a consistent overall vehicle package.
The objective is to achieve the optimum balance of function, design, ergonomics, weight, and costs while fulfilling assembly, crash, and service requirements.
OVD acts as the central, moderating hub in the design process and creates a continuously updated DMU (Digital Mock Up) as the digital representation of the vehicle and its components.
During the strategy phase, OVD defines the dimensional concept covering interior and exterior requirements from marketing and sales to reach a benchmark position in the Chinese market.
In the early development phase, OVD creates feasible and competitive concepts with input from platform organization, marketing, research and development, and production. OVD prepares hardware and digital mockups to validate concepts, aligns with stakeholders to optimize the product continuously, and ensures customer readiness of solutions.
In the next development step, OVD is responsible for realizing the positioning of packaging-relevant components with specific clearance requirements for parts and functions. Following the milestones of the MDS processes, packaging evaluation and component release must be finalized.
Qualifications
- Passion for the automotive business and proven self-confidence
- University degree in engineering or comparable education
- Automotive engineering experience and knowledge of automotive development processes
- Experience in ergonomics, packaging, and dimensional concepts
- Strong international communication skills in English; very good German preferred but not mandatory
- Eagerness to take responsibility and a self-reliant work style
- Creative but analytical thinking
- Professional presentation skills for management
- Siemens NX preferred
- Siemens Teamcenter / Engineering Client preferred
