Occupant Safety & Restraint System Engineer

Tasks

• Provide technical and methodological leadership in Occupant Restraint System engineering for Mercedes-Benz China local production vehicles, ensuring best-in-class safety performance through structured development, localized solutions, and comprehensive testing standards.
• Lead Occupant Restraint System development for Mercedes-Benz China locally produced vehicles.
• Represent Occupant Restraint System development in the overall vehicle project and work with surrounding functional teams, including R&D, suppliers, and project teams.
• Develop methodologies and standards for Occupant Restraint System engineering and sled testing, and guide team members in analysis and testing.
• Lead or support cross-functional working groups to implement new features or solve issues.
• Develop restraint components for Mercedes-Benz China locally produced vehicles and ensure all project milestones are reached.
• Contribute to vehicle safety topics, including crash safety and ratings.

Qualifications

• University degree in mechanical or automotive engineering.
• More than 8 years of experience in Occupant Restraint System development.
• Profound experience in restraint system analysis, sled testing, and occupant simulation.
• Professional knowledge of restraint system components, including their working principles and concepts.
• Experience handling complex situations, solving issues, managing suppliers, and resolving conflicts among stakeholders.
• Professional knowledge and experience in Occupant Restraint System development and occupant safety.
• Experience with occupant simulation pre-processing and post-processing.
• Profound knowledge of passive safety development at vehicle and subsystem level.
• Strong communication, teamwork, intercultural competence, analytical thinking, strategic planning, reporting, and presentation skills.
• Fluent English and Chinese; German is a plus.
