Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc. is hiring an intern to support the Mercedes-Benz Production System (MPS) and continuous improvement activities at its advanced automotive manufacturing facilities in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Essential Functions
- Analyze business and manufacturing processes.
- Assist with process analysis and optimization projects.
- Support workshop preparation and facilitation.
- Analyze performance metrics and KPIs.
- Develop and implement improvement measures.
- Participate in digitalization initiatives.
- Support data-driven decision-making activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Assist with project management activities.
- Apply MPS methodologies and lean principles.
- Contribute to operational improvement projects.
- Gain exposure to manufacturing operations.
- Support problem-solving and process improvement efforts.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities.
Other Regular Daily Tasks
- Participate in continuous improvement workshops and operational meetings.
- Support process analysis and performance evaluations.
- Assist with project planning, implementation, and follow-up activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on improvement initiatives.
- Support KPI tracking, reporting, and data analysis.
- Assist with development of presentations, reports, and workshop materials.
- Participate in shopfloor observations and process improvement activities.
- Support the rollout, user adoption, and stabilization of digital tools within manufacturing processes.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related area is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred skills include understanding of automotive manufacturing processes, digital process improvement, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles, process analysis, problem-solving, data analysis, reporting, project management, organizational skills, Microsoft Office, and communication and cross-functional collaboration. Power BI knowledge is preferred.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a university or in a gap year between a bachelor’s and master’s degree.
- Studies outside the U.S.
- A minimum of three semesters of study in a relevant field.
- Available for a minimum of six months.
