Tasks
Objective of job: Responsible as project lead for MB.OS Hardware localization for locally produced Mercedes-Benz vehicles for the China market. Lead and coordinate project management for hardware development, localization, industrialization and lifecycle change management. Manage the MB.OS-related hardware commodity group and track maturity toward carline start of production.
- Coordinate stakeholders across Mercedes-Benz and the joint venture partner, acting as an interface between projects.
- Manage project scopes, timelines, status reporting, resources, budgets and risks.
- Plan and manage project resources, including FTE and VMAT, in alignment with RD headquarters and controlling.
- Define hardware localization plans and timelines in consideration of software development and monitor milestones through industrialization.
- Support supplier discussions, sourcing strategy alignment, business case evaluation and critical-project escalation.
- Lead change management, including cost and timeline control for change implementation.
- Lead commodity meetings and steer commodity strategy to achieve project goals.
- Present topics to committees and support decision-making and approval processes.
- Support demand management, test management and legal evaluation across the product lifecycle.
- Contribute to team matters and organizational development.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering; software engineering or computer science is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle hardware, particularly E/E components; software development experience is a plus.
- At least five years of experience in the automobile industry and in vehicle or component development projects.
- Experience with OEMs or suppliers in E/E hardware, especially infotainment, connectivity or ADAS.
- Experience with hardware release processes, E/E release management and agile development environments.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies, hardware development and quality methodologies, and vehicle industrialization.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence or similar project-management tools.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, with a self-responsible and team-oriented approach.
- Willingness to travel in China and internationally.
- Very good English; German is a plus.
