Role Overview
Atos is looking for a Mainframe System Programmer to support the installation, maintenance, and administration of the z/OS Mainframe operating system. This role supports system reliability, performance, and security while contributing to continuous improvement in a global and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, upgrade, and administer the z/OS operating system, including RSU maintenance.
- Perform system changes in line with Atos security standards and internal controls.
- Provide IPL support and resolve JES2/JES3 issues.
- Maintain TSO/ISPF environments, including CLIST, REXX, and PROC maintenance.
- Perform MVS tuning and manage PARMLIB.
- Create and manage LPARs.
- Execute SMP/E activities including Receive, Apply, USERMOD, and exit management.
- Install and upgrade ISV products such as CA1, CA7, CA11, Syncsort, File-Aid, Abend-Aid, Mainview, System Automation, ASG, and BMC products.
- Support testing, implementation, and deployment of new or improved systems and product upgrades.
- Collaborate with internal teams, management, and clients to drive continuous service improvement.
- Participate in an on-call rotation as required.
Must-have Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience in installation, maintenance, problem diagnosis, and administration of z/OS.
- Strong working knowledge of SMP/E.
- Proficiency in JCL, ISPF, REXX, CLIST, and SMP/E.
- Experience with multiple mainframe products covering security, resource, performance, storage, scheduling, application, and hardware management.
- Verbal and written proficiency in English.
Educational Background
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or a relevant technical certification.
Professional Experience
- Experience supporting enterprise mainframe environments.
- Hands-on involvement in z/OS installations and upgrades.
Soft Skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
- Analytical mindset focused on system stability and service quality.
Good-to-have Qualifications and Skills
- Experience with multiple ISV products across the mainframe ecosystem.
- Familiarity with large, complex, or global IT service environments.
- System-level experience with CICS, IMS, DB2, Communications, and MQ is a strong plus; candidates with this experience will be prioritized for interview.
