Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc. (MBUSI) is seeking an international intern to support its Procurement and Purchasing department in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. This is a paid internship supporting supplier management, purchasing projects, and cross-functional initiatives at Mercedes-Benz’s advanced automotive manufacturing facilities.
Essential Functions
- Support commercial discussions with suppliers that collaborate with MBUSI.
- Provide general support for purchasing activities, including future sourcing projects and cross-functional meeting coordination.
- Verify supplier data accuracy for claims processing and provide appropriate feedback.
- Analyze supplier claims and help assess cost plausibility under general supervision.
- Organize and support team meetings and communications.
- Lead the purchasing department’s responsibility for a waste reduction project, working cross-functionally across MBUSI to implement and scale the process.
Other Regular Daily Tasks
- Prepare reports and presentations for management.
- Participate in negotiations with suppliers.
- Support other purchasing tasks.
Qualifications
- Create tracking systems for AGV monitoring and improve the Visual Management System for Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs).
- Be currently studying Finance/Controlling, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Have knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote.
- Have knowledge of Power BI.
- Have project management experience.
- Teamwork and collaboration skills are required.
- Knowledge of AM Supply Cost Engineering is preferred.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled at a university or in a gap year between a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree.
- Studying outside the United States; applications from students currently studying in the United States are not accepted.
- At least three semesters of study in a relevant field.
- Available for a minimum of six months.
Internship Details
- Preferred start date: February 2027.
- Paid internship with an hourly rate of $18.
- Coverage of visa costs.
- $700 housing bonus.
