Tasks

Mercedes-Benz is hiring an intern to support Assembly operations at Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc. in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

  • Analyze and optimize Assembly production management processes
  • Support standardization of shop floor management systems
  • Work directly with production management teams
  • Assist with cross-functional problem-solving activities
  • Support resolution of product and process-related issues
  • Collaborate with Body Shop, Paint Shop, and supplier partners
  • Develop and implement improvement measures
  • Participate in process optimization initiatives
  • Support data analysis and performance reporting
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects
  • Gain exposure to automotive manufacturing operations

Other regular daily tasks

  • Attend and evaluate Assembly Core Teams and Escalation Meetings
  • Drive problem resolution for complex and legacy topics
  • Support shop floor process management
  • Report project and problem-solving status and next steps

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related area is required, along with the equivalent combination of education and experience where applicable.

Preferred skills include engineering problem solving, basic Microsoft computer knowledge, understanding of vehicle systems and terminology, familiarity with standard automotive production systems, and Power BI training.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in university or in a gap year between a bachelor's and master's degree
  • Studies outside the U.S.
  • At least three semesters of study in a relevant field
  • Available for a minimum of six months
