Intellectual Property China / Patent Counsel (Base Shanghai)

Job Objectives

• Provide IP expertise to protect company new technologies and innovations through patent applications.
• Support the implementation of local patent strategies to build a robust patent portfolio for assigned departments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maximize the value of intellectual property within the business.
• Analyze market and competitor trends in China to provide insights for adapting the local IP strategy.
• Collaborate with the global IP Department on routine patent filings to ensure local efforts contribute to global IP objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in science, engineering, or a related technical field.
• A background in intellectual property law or related studies is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in the patent field, including prior-art search, drafting, and prosecution.
• Knowledge of automotive structures and components is highly desirable.
• Experience organizing IP-related events or awareness initiatives is a plus.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken; proficiency in German is an advantage.
• Demonstrates initial leadership potential, accountability, and a proactive approach to managing responsibilities beyond core tasks.
• Collaborative team player with agility and innovative thinking, able to express ideas clearly and effectively.
• Self-motivated, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• Proactive and creative in addressing challenges, with a solution-oriented mindset.
