Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) is seeking a Homologation, Certification and Regulation Engineer to support global automotive certification and regulatory compliance activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage system-level approvals for safety disciplines in accordance with EU and global regulatory requirements.
  • Perform component-level certification checks and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
  • Collect and validate certification data, including technical data, drawings, and information required for technical descriptions.
  • Extract and consolidate technical information from engineering drawings and supplier component approvals.
  • Prepare certification-related information documents and supporting technical documentation.
  • Evaluate engineering changes from a certification and regulatory compliance perspective and assess their impact on vehicle compliance.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including technical services, to ensure timely completion of certification activities.
  • Plan and organize certification tests and support R&D teams and technical services during testing activities.
  • Manage certification milestones, timelines, and deliverables to ensure compliance with project targets.
  • Monitor, understand, and track applicable global automotive regulations and assess their impact on vehicle and system certification.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 4–6 years of experience in automotive homologation, certification, or regulatory affairs, preferably with an OEM.
  • Strong background in vehicle homologation and certification processes.
  • Good knowledge of international homologation processes, including EU and global requirements.
  • Ability to interpret and apply European and international technical regulations.
  • Knowledge of active and passive safety certification requirements for vehicle systems.
  • Experience with automotive regulations and/or vehicle exterior and compliance-related components.
  • Ability to perform risk analysis related to overall vehicle compliance.
  • Strong coordination, stakeholder management, and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and preparation of technical documentation and presentations.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking with a goal- and result-oriented approach.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, teamwork, and customer-oriented skills.
  • Proficiency in English; German language skills are an added advantage.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Additional certification in Automotive Homologation, Vehicle Regulations, Compliance, or Regulatory Affairs is an added advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with an automotive OEM in international homologation, certification, or regulatory affairs.
  • Exposure to Mercedes-Benz/Daimler certification processes and systems.
  • Knowledge of global vehicle safety regulations and certification procedures.
  • Experience working with international technical services, certification authorities, suppliers, and cross-functional R&D teams.
  • German language proficiency is an added advantage.
  • Experience supporting certification testing and regulatory assessments across multiple global markets.
