Body Shop Quality Gate Inspector - 1st Shift

Job Overview

Conduct in-process quality inspections of vans, identify vehicle defects, and enter inspection results into the appropriate computer systems. Communicate effectively with production personnel to create awareness of quality issues that leads to effective resolution.

Responsibilities

• Read and comprehend checklist inspection points and locate the targeted area for inspection.
• Enter inspection data into a computer independently.
• Identify, evaluate, and determine the severity of defects based on the Van Benchmark Catalog NQ rating scale.
• Conduct needed inspections within the established takt time.
• Input defects into QSYS and FBK.
• Properly clear defects in QSYS and FBK.
• Inspect FBKs for conformance to stamping requirements.
• Identify the correct process owner for a defect and communicate with them.
• Verify correction of defects when corrected in-station.
• Determine the next process step for vehicles with defects in the light tunnel or EOL.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of manufacturing process experience.
• Inspection experience preferred.
• Significant Mercedes-Benz Vans product knowledge.
• Knowledge of quality inspection methods.
• Basic computer skills; Microsoft Office required.
• Ability to work in teams.
• People and persuasion skills.
• Assertiveness in difficult situations.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Hours of Work

Current openings are on first shift, normally Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Hours may change based on business needs, and training may require work on first, second, or third shift.
