Job description

To assume the functions of Head of RPC Japan, responsible for the management of the Risk Management Division locally, including the follow-up, monitoring and reporting of counterparty, market and operational risks borne by CA-CIB Japan across all activities.

To build and maintain strong working relationships with business lines, coverage bankers and the Senior Country Officer to anticipate risks, manage the business soundly and disseminate the risk culture of CA-CIB.

To proactively manage the portfolio through ongoing monitoring and reporting of risk events involving counterparties or industries, recommending and taking pre-emptive and follow-up actions.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as the unique RPC representative in Japan vis-à-vis management, other departments and third parties.
  • Participate in relevant committees, including Market Risk, Business, Credit Risk, Internal Control, Risk Anomalies and ALM committees.
  • Manage, supervise and coordinate local RPC functions, review their reports and update local policies and procedures.
  • Lead risk portfolio reviews and participate in CSP reviews for risk appetite definition.
  • Monitor counterparty and industry-sector risk events and alert local management and CRO APAC to potential risk deterioration.
  • Maintain the integrity of risk data and parameters and monitor the annual review cycle of counterparties, guarantors and ratings.
  • Monitor market risks and compliance with limits imposed on traders.
  • Coordinate and supervise implementation in Japan of CA-CIB projects such as Basel IV, FRTB, risk-systems infrastructure and risk methodologies.
  • Provide full risk disclosures and reporting to senior management, internal and external auditors, regulators and other relevant stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; a master’s degree is desirable.
  • At least 10–15 years of investment banking experience, with strong Risk Management experience.
  • Experience across investment banking products, including ECM and derivatives, is desirable.
  • Strong people-management, analytical, decision-making, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to identify, monitor and escalate emerging risk issues.
  • Strong knowledge of financial and risk analysis, counterparty, market and operational risk, investment banking products and risk management frameworks.
  • Good IT literacy and strong numerical skills.
  • Excellent English communication skills; Japanese language skills are preferred.

Contract: Permanent Contract. Location: Tokyo, Japan. The position is hybrid and includes management responsibilities. Starting date: 01/02/2027.
