Head of Projects & Performance Management Tech Vans

Mercedes-Benz Vans is shaping the future of transport with electric vehicles, connectivity and digital solutions. At the Jawor site, vehicles from the VAN.EA and VAN.CA platforms will be assembled as part of a new greenfield and existing-plant footprint.

Tech Vans is strengthening its project and performance management capability in Jawor to support strategic initiatives, transformation projects and operational excellence across its locations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Tech Vans Project & Performance Management team of more than 10 FTE in a matrix organization.
• Provide disciplinary leadership, including task, performance and HR management.
• Develop and qualify employees through development plans and feedback.
• Ensure alignment with Mercedes-Benz IT standard solutions and processes.
• Support strategic initiatives within the department and Tech Vans.
• Ensure compliant collaboration models with internal and external partners.
• Ramp up the Jawor Van Tech Hub, including qualification, knowledge transfer, standardized service delivery and efficient collaboration models.
• Develop work breakdown structures, time and resource plans, risk management, communication plans and quality plans for projects.
• Define and track project goals, progress, quality, budget and timelines, including change management and status reporting.
• Monitor internal and external IT partner performance using KPIs for budget, resources, performance and project status.
• Coordinate project teams and activities while ensuring stakeholder communication.
• Ensure IT project success for VAN product and market launches.
• Provide transparency of performance and budget figures and implement suitable steering methods and processes.
• Document results and lessons learned and hand them over to operations.

Qualifications

• Completed studies in computer science, engineering, business administration, industrial engineering or a comparable qualification.
• Several years of experience managing complex product projects, transformation initiatives or operations-related programmes.
• Strong understanding of performance management, KPI systems, target steering and operational excellence methods.
• Good knowledge of project management tools and methods, agile approaches and structured problem-solving.
• Knowledge of current IT technologies, architectures, innovations and associated risks.
• Ability to translate strategic priorities into project structures, measurable targets and implementation plans.
• Several years of leadership experience, ideally in an international and cross-functional environment.
• Experience building teams, developing capabilities and establishing governance, routines and standards.
• Experience with production-plant processes and stakeholder management.
• Strong understanding of production, operations or technology-related processes in an industrial environment.
• Resilience, problem-solving ability, intercultural competence, empathy, analytical and conceptual skills.
• Fluent business English; German and/or Polish are beneficial.
• Good communication and presentation skills, entrepreneurial thinking and outcome orientation.

• Close collaboration with all Tech Vans locations is required.
